You will be shown into a private room and the practitioner will ask you about your symptoms and then take a full medical history, including any medications that you are currently taking and any tests or other medical investigations that you have had. This information will be recorded in your case notes and be kept confidential.
The practitioner will ask to examine you and you may need to remove some of your clothing in order for an accurate diagnosis to be made. They will also check for signs of serious medical conditions and, if any are found, will advise you to either go to hospital or to see your GP for further advice.
Once the examination is completed you will be given a clear explanation of diagnosis and any other findings and, if appropriate and with your consent, treatment will be given.
